Everyday, one out of every five children, under the age of five, die world-wide from water-related diseases.

That's 2 million per year!

Thousands of impoverished residents from Cienfuegos, Santiago carry their water from the local canal in five gallon white plastic buckets. The canal water contains high levels of E-coli bacteria and other contaminants due to run-off from the nearby garbage dump as well as raw sewage from the community.

Haiti's water contamination is similar and now amplified because of thousands of bodies being buried in shallow graves. The run-off ends up in local waterways.

All portable water is being flown in. For the current cost of just one such flight, Water For The Children could build five water treatment plants with each water plant providing 12,000 gallons per day of safe, clean water.
